In Cuenca, Spain, children with Down's syndrome are learning English using an interactive whiteboard.

Two and three-year-olds, at a parent and toddler group in Nottingham, England, take part in Spanish games and dancing, eat tapas and have their faces painted with the Spanish flag.

After discussing typical courses in Sweden the rumour spread to the centre restaurant who obtained the recipe for a Swedish speciality called Janssons Frestelse. It was put on the menu one Friday in the centre restaurant which caters to about 300 residents and outside users of the centre.

MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS IN SPAIN
We have completed a total of 16 sub-groups, reaching more than 80 people. We have organised activities in 4 languages (French, German, Polish and English.) We have worked with four organisations in the community, where much of out teaching has taken place.

The project has been reported in national and local media and also in international conferences on language teaching and learning.

This dissemination has made people in Cuenca, in Castilla La Mancha and more widely in Spain aware of the importance of language learning and teaching as a way of integrating people in society and also as a way of learning new ways of life and different cultures.
