ALLEGRO wins Lifelong Learning Award
The ALLEGRO project won a Bronze Award for Lifelong Learning in the Lingua category at the launch of the new Lifelong Learning Programme held in Berlin on 06 and 07 May 2007. Eighteen projects across the all Actions of the previous education programme, Socrates, were honoured in this way. ALLEGRO was selected from over 70 Lingua projects and the project team is delighted to have come in the final three. Linda Parker, ALLEGRO coordinator, said " We are thrilled that ALLEGRO has been recognised by the European Commission. It was an ambitious project which aimed to change attitudes and win over hearts and minds. It was fantastic that the Commission funded ALLEGRO in 2002 and even better that they have rewarded us now. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the project but most especially those people who took part in ALLEGRO activities: mothers and young children, prisoners, refugees, those with physical and learning disabilites. They are the real stars of this project and we are very pleased that Europe has recognised their achievements."
